Summerland CEO Elizabeth (Beth) Collins is
a native of Middle Georgia and is a self-
educated naturalist. She is a member of the
Exotic Pest Plant Council, the Georgia Native
Plant Society, Master Gardeners of Central
Georgia, Altamaha Riverkeeper, and The
Nature Conservancy. Beth previously spent
about 20 years working in technical and
management roles in the Information Systems
career field. She and her husband Bob
Farquhar attend High Street Unitarian
Universalist Church.
James P. (Jim) Wood, Jr., President of
Summerland, has lived almost his entire life in
Macon/Bibb County. He has always had a love
of nature and feels very much at home in the
woods, with a pair of binoculars though instead
of a gun. He is a college graduate with a BA of
Science (Biology). He is willing and able to
consult with anyone about all aspects of
Natural Burial. Jim presented a program about
their journey towards opening a natural
cemetery at the Crossings 10th Anniversary
Celebration in Washington, DC. He is very
passionate about Natural Burial.

David Davidson
David Davidson is a lifelong resident of
Bonaire. Dave has served the community as a
grocer, educator, and developer and has
served for 20 years as President of the
Bonaire Community Cemetery Association.
Carole Dixon
After years of listening to Carole Dixon
complain, "When will the cemetery be open?",
Beth asked Carole to help make it happen by
serving as a board member. Carole lives in
the country with her husband Carl,
granddaughter Rain, a cat and three dogs.
She is a graphic designer and is co-owner
along with Carl of Woods Graphics Inc. Her
interests include photography, tai chi, majjong,
keeping a blog and kayaking. Carole and Carl
have three sons and four grandchildren.
Jane Donahue
Jane Avery Donahue is currently an Advisory
Board member, University of Georgia
Extension; founder and Vice Chair of
Peacemakers, Inc; Director of Religious
Education, High Street Unitarian Universalist
Church. She took early retirement from
International Business Machines Corporation
where her last position was Systems
Requirements Analyst. Jane is a lover of
cemeteries and alternative ways of burial. She
lovingly tends the graves of her five
generations of family in Floyd County, Georgia.
Phillip Hull
An old country school science teacher and
deep ecologist, Phillip believes it’s not the
Earth that needs saving, it’s the humans. He
strives to know how nature works and has
engaged in numerous field experiences
including, extensive environmental education
training on Cumberland Island National
Seashore, at Jones Ecological Research
Center at Ichauway Plantation, on Ossabaw
Island, and along the Flint River watershed.
He holds a B.A. from Georgia College and
State University, and completed his teacher
certification work at Mercer University.
Paul Mahlberg
Paul Mahlberg is a farmer and a philosopher.
He serves on the board as Land Steward.
Paul has been working with Beth and others to
gently landscape twenty-five acres (of which
ten acres will be burial ground) while sparing
our "precious plants". Paul lives in Dry Branch.
